I started the 3 Day Refresh with the ladies in my March Spring Refresh online 30 day accountability group. We did the cleanse the first 3 days of our group and I'm excited to share my review and results with you!
THE NUMBERS
I lost 3 pounds (in 3 days!!) and 1 inch off my waist!!!
THE PHYSICAL
Physically speaking, after the cleanse was over, I felt great! I felt lighter, healthier, and just all around GREAT! During the cleanse, I was tired and lacked some energy (due to the lower daily calorie total) but it was never unbearable. I never once cheated and I never once felt like it.
THE EMOTIONAL
Emotionally speaking, it was crazy to learn (in just 3 days) how I went to food when I was bored or just out of habit. One of the main reasons I did the cleanse was to kick the bad eating habit of "having to end on a sweet note" after lunch and dinner. I didn't realize just how bad that was until I was on the 3 day cleanse. I also didn't realize how quick I was to just go to the pantry and grab something because I was bored or watching TV or stressed. I would've never called myself an emotional eater, but I realized in these 3 days that I can be for sure! I was still my usual self during the cleanse, just more tired and hungry. I was so proud of myself for finishing and couldn't wait to eat "normal" again!
THE PROS
> Quick Results. The physical numbers are crazy to me. 3 pounds in 3 days and 1 inch off my waist. Wow. All because I ate REALLY clean and ate less calories!
> Easy & self explanatory. The kit comes with a Program Guide that outlines EXACTLY what you eat and/or drink at what time and gives you lists of approved foods that you choose from to eat during the 3 days. It even has dinner recipes already given to you. Seriously, this thing was so easy to follow. And that's saying something coming from a busy Mom of 2 little ones!!
> The education. As I mentioned, I learned a lot about my eating habits and how to fix/kick them. I also learned that veggies and fruits taste REALLY GOOD. Fruit is so sweet and veggies are so satisfying. I mean duh, but you really realize that when it's all you eat. I already eat a lot of them, but I was reminded just how important they are in my health. I plan to continue several of the recipes I used during the cleanse into my "real life"! (yeah, they were that good!)
THE CONS
> The hunger. I mean come on, I eat a LOT OF FOOD. And I LOVE FOOD. So the fact that I was eating way less calories than normal, no sweets, no dairy, no meat. I was hungry. BUT, I will say. I was the most hungry on Day 1 and it got better after I adjusted. The cleanse allows for unsweeted caffeine free herbal tea up to 3 different times in the day and I drank it every time because it helped a TON with my hunger. Crazy how a cup of hot tea could curb my hunger!! Plus, I drank a ton of water that helped with the hunger too. If I was hungry, I'd just grab my water and drink up!
NEED TO KNOWS & FAQs
Are the drinks chalky? I didn't think so, no. The Fiber Sweep drink you have each day, mid-morning, is a little gritty, but I mean it's a Fiber drink. LOL It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though! Plus, there's several tasty recipes you can use to make the Fiber Sweep and Vanilla Fresh Protein drinks taste even better! I didn't think the Vanilla Fresh tasted bad at all. Just like any Vanilla protein powder I've had.
Organic Veggie Broth. This was a lifesaver at dinner time. I was allowed the Vanilla Fresh and one dinner recipe PLUS 1 cup of organic veggie broth with 1/4 cup of freshly chopped herbs. It was a good addition to the dinner and helped my meal fill me up!
I don't recommend this for Pregnant or Nursing Moms. It's simply not enough calories for your day. (I'm finished nursing Allie)
You don't exercise during the cleanse. Simply put, you're not eating enough calories to replenish the calories that you'd burn during your workout. You stick to rest days and/or stretching, yoga, light activity. I opted for 3 nice rest days! :)
THE VERDICT
I think the 3 Day Refresh is great for everyone. I think it would help everybody in different ways. Here's my two cents about it:
- Needing Quick Results: If you're looking to lose some quick weight and tighten up your tummy for an event/trip/etc. It's a helpful tool for that.
- Learning to Eat Clean: If you're curious what it's like to eat clean, how to do it, or what foods to eat, this is for you. It's a great way to learn - quickly - how to eat clean and feel great. It's a great way to springboard your nutrition.
- Kicking bad habits: If you're like me and you overindulged on vacation or you have some bad eating habits you need to break, this is a GREAT way to do it. It's just 3 days and you're over it and starting fresh!
- Jumpstarting your Health: If you're already pretty healthy and eat pretty clean, exercise, etc. this is a great way to take 3 days and jumpstart your health. Get you out of that plateau you're on and/or get you in the game for the month.
WHAT DID MY CLIENTS SAY?
My clients lost weight too! They felt healthier and lighter and it helped them get on track! One client said she learned how to drink a lot of water, too!
