I've heard people talk about the Resurrection Eggs and after scouring Pinterest for ideas, I decided my kids are a bit too young for them. Instead, I decided to adapt them and use an EASTER acronym I saw all over Pinterest. Pinterest also has tons of helpful tips for using the Jesus Storybook Bible with the EASTER acronym. (I can't take credit for that!) I did take time to look up Bible verses to correlate with each egg, though. I love our Jesus Storybook Bible, but I also think it's important to read scripture from the Bible to the kids. You'll notice each letter has an explanation, a correlating story to read in the Jesus Storybook Bible, and Bible verses you can also read as a family.
One additional thing I'm going to do is read them the story of Jesus' triumphal entry on Palm Sunday. Our Children's Ministry always does a great job of that on Palm Sunday, so we'll talk about it a bit more that day as a family. Then, I'll begin this EASTER countdown the Monday after Palm Sunday.
E: Heart. I cut a heart out of red paper.
A: Bandaid.
S: Cross & nails. I cut out a cross and added two small nails too.
T: Rock.
E: Strip of cloth.
R: empty!
We’ll open an egg, as a family each night, and read the Bible story/verses and talk about it as a family.
Also, I have these Easter books we read each year that I love!
