This week was a mix of good and bad. The bad: I had sinus/allergy stuff Saturday - Wednesday and that was no fun. Luckily, I got some good OTC meds (thanks to the super helpful Walgreens Pharmacist) and kicked it pretty quick. I was proud of myself for still sticking through it and getting in my runs! It was hard to get up on those mornings, and I was really tired the rest of the day, but I did it! I did a LOT of laying around and resting 90% of this week. The good: I had great pace during my runs this week! I'm SO proud of that. I pushed myself (in spite of feeling yucky) and kept my pace right at 10:00 and it was challenging, but felt GREAT to set some personal records. My fastest 5k race was 31 something, and I beat that this week! Plus, I was so proud of my 5 mile and 5.5 mile times too!! Yay!!!! In the beginning of this week, I honestly just wanted to get through this week with all the sinus pressure in one piece, to get my long run done. I did that and it ended up being a good training week!!!
My STATS for this week's training:
(All runs on interval: run 12 min/walk 1 min)
50 minutes / 5 miles / 9:54 AP
55:55 minutes / 5.50 miles / 10:09 AP
30:36 minutes / 3 miles / 10:10 AP
Long Run: 11 miles / 1:55:06 / 10:27 AP (group run)
What was hard this week?
Overall feeling of just not feeling good and having to get up early and run. Ha. I was in bed around 9:30 every night to try to help, but man it was hard getting up when I just wanted to sleep all day long. :) Also, my long run (11 miles) was the physically hardest yet. I could tell I did 6 miles last week for my long run and it had been a week plus since my body went farther than that. Whew! My legs/knees/hips/feet were hurting around mile 9. But I focused on my breathing, pushed through, and listened to my running partner chatting.
What was easy this week?
Hmmm, I'm not real sure anything was easy this week. Even my "easy" 3 mile run was a hard one. Ha.
Any aches or pains?
My knees, hips, and lower back was really store after my 11 mile run.
Funny Misc:
I tried Jelly Belly Sport Beans at mile 6 during my 11 mile run. I only ate 3 of them. (I did Cherry flavor) They tasted good and were find going down, but they just didn't feel good after a while in my belly. They kind of made my belly rumbly. In fact, after my run, I had to stop at a gas station on my way home because I wasn't going to be able to make it home. (TMI) Needless to say, I won't be eating them anymore. I'll just stick to my water w/electrolyte mix and maybe grab an orange or banana slice on the race course. We'll see.
