My thoughts on this week's training:
I have recognized that by week end, I am tired and thankful that 3rd run is an "easy 30 minute" run. I enjoy those runs because I can go a bit slower. I also usually try to run up some hills on those, too. This week I ran up a ton of hills. My legs were definitely fatigued, but I got through them! I also got in 1 day of full body weights this week. Shooting for 2. Hopefully I'll get that next week. This week's long run (6 miles) was definitely my hardest run yet. It was also my biggest mental challenge. In my mind, when I started this thing, seeing 6 miles was like "wow, that's when I'll have 'made it' and be a legit runner." I almost psyched myself out a bit about the run and was in my head too much I think. I'd about talked myself into believing it was just too hard to do. I did it, and did it with one of my good friends, so that was awesome. I've been having some tummy/intestinal issues this week, so I'm really working on my water intake so I'm not hydrated and refueling after runs with some electrolytes.
My Stats for this week's training:
{Interval on first 3 runs: run 8 min/walk 2 min}
{Interval on long run: run 7 min/walk 3 min}
40 minutes / 3.54 miles / 11:18 AP
45 minutes / 4.10 miles / 10:58 AP
30 minutes / 2.59 miles / 11:36 AP
6 miles / 1 hr 6 minutes / 11:04 AP (group run)
What was hard this week?
The tummy/intestinal issues I mentioned. That's been the hardest thing about this week. My 6 mile, long run, was also tough too. But I did it and I'm so stinkin' proud of myself. #boom
What was easy this week?
While running the hills on a few runs wasn't easy, I definitely felt stronger doing them than I used to. I typically would walk up the hills (pre-half training) and it felt so good to be strong enough to run up them. THAT is a great feeling. It's also really easy to eat ALL THE TIME. I'm starving 24/7. :)
Any aches or pains?
My hamstrings were pretty sore and tight after my weight workout. That's why I need to do better at getting my 2 weight workouts in. I wouldn't be sore if I did it regularly.
