How far along? 11 weeks
How big is baby? The size of a lime
How is baby developing this week? Baby's feet and hands are no longer webbed and finger nail beds are forming. (amazing!!)
How I'm changing: This week, I've felt pretty yucky. I knew this week would be like that because there is so much growth happening with the baby from weeks 10-13. It triples in size! Week 10 it was the size of a prune and this week it's now the size of a lime! That's a BIG growth spurt. I feel REALLY nauseous every day and super tired too. Also, my belly is getting much more round and starting to harden up a little bit - not as pudgy feeling as at first. My bedtime has creeped up quite a bit too. I'm in bed around 9 or 9:30 at the latest.
What I'm eating: Breakfasts are oats with honey, blueberries, flaked coconut and a banana. Plus a slice (or two) of cinnamon raisin bread w/butter. Lunch has been heated up Boar's Head chicken deli meat on 1 piece of Ezekiel bread with swiss cheese, spicy mustard and bread and butter pickles. (YUM!) Plus a side salad with kale, cut up mandarin oranges, sliced almonds and olive oil drizzled for dressing. Snacks are fruit, Cliff bars, hard boiled eggs w/salt and pepper, and mugs of cereal (especially at night after dinner). Dinner is pretty normal. Nothing is really out of the rotation at this point. I'm also hooked on this flavored carbonated water called Sparkling Ice. It really helps my uneasy stomach. I can only drink my regular water when it's ice cold. But I'm making sure I meet my doctor's goal of 2 bottles before lunch and 2 bottles after.
What I'm NOT eating: I'm sweets free, so no sweets....but that was the case before pregnancy. Other than that, I can't think of anything that is definitely a no right now. I did make pork chops the other night in the crockpot and the texture was too much for me. I think I'll have to post-pone those for the time being.
How I'm feeling: Really queasy - all day - at its worst from afternoon on. Tired. I'm taking afternoon naps when Landon does as much as possible. (which is harder than usual because he's been shortening his nap to 1 hr...not cool and bad timing) I'm also excited to have the news out for everybody to know. That's always such a relief and a fun day. Blessed to have heard a healthy heartbeat at our apt and feeling more like it's for real. I also have this really terrible taste in my mouth 24/7 that makes the nausea worse. (annoying) I'm constantly chewing on gum to keep it at bay. Blah! I've had a few headaches too, but so far not as bad as with Landon. (please Lord let it stay that way)
How my workouts are: Good! No real complaints there! I've lowered my weight during Body Pump and watching my heart rate while I exercise. I'm still getting in 2 days of Body Pump and 1-2 days of cardio - usually a good, fast paced 30 minute walk. My stamina is definitely not as good as it was and I'm pretty wiped after I workout, but I feel pretty good during it and continue to follow my doctor's orders to listen to my body and not push it.
Thoughts this week: Happy to have the news out and not having to hide my growing little bump anymore! I love baby bumps!!! Also, I'm sleeping yucky. About week 9 I started sleeping with my wedge pillow and week 10 my pregnancy pillow too. It's hard to get comfortable and go to sleep. Once I'm asleep it can go either way. Oh and I'm up at least once to pee, which I was doing before pregnancy though - I drink so much water. :) Emotionally, I'm having a hard time accepting having another C-section. I'm just trusting God's plan and trying my best not to worry about it but I'm working through a lot of fear and worry surrounding having to do it all again. (FYI: Yes, I know I don't have to....I know about VBACs and have talked in length with my doctor about it. In the end we've decided for another C-section.) Having a toddler (he'll be 3 at that point) in addition to a newborn with the recovery and lifting/weight restrictions seems daunting. But I know plenty of women who have done it - and survived - and swear to me it's not as bad as I think, and is doable. I'm clinging to that encouragement and just asking for God to prepare me!
Highlights this week: Hearing the heartbeat at the doctor. That sound never gets old! Ahh, I love it. Ben even said when he heard it, it all became very real to him. :) Also, letting the news out for the world to know.
Bump details: Growing!!!!! More noticeable and making it's presence.
Facts this week:
- Baby's heart rate was 166 bpm
- My Dr said I'll more than likely be scheduled for my c-section a week before my due date
- I'm already up to my pre-Landon cup size. (I had gone down after I quit nursing and am already back up again)
- I started wearing my belly band with non-maternity pants and busted out two pairs of shorts with stretchy waists that I wore post-partum with Landon. I already can't wait for maternity pants - so comfy!!
- I started wearing Sea Bands to help with the nausea
- I gained 2 lbs from my last apt at week 6. So far, just 2 lbs total.
