This week was a wet week so I only got 3 of my 4 runs in. I did a 30 min HIIT workout instead of run 2, and could tell on run 3 that I missed a run. My lungs burned. I did run a wet 3 miles on run 3, but got it done!!!! I felt rundown and tired this week so there was a lot of mental challenges to overcome, but I was itching to run after missing my 2nd run. Yay for that!! I finally bumped up to a new interval too, this week.
My STATS for this week's training:
(All runs on a 10 min run/2 min walk interval)
50 minutes / 4.72 miles / 10:35 AP
Cross Training : 30 min HIIT at home workout
3 miles / 32:46 / 10:54 AP
Long run : 10 miles / 1:52:26 / 11:14 AP (group run)
What was hard this week?
Knee pain. My knees hurt pretty bad after my 10 miles last Saturday. It took a few days before they weren't so sore. I started taking glucosamine this week, to help, too. My knees felt better during my 10 mile run this week. 🙌🏼 I also lacked energy this week so that was tough to combat. And missing one of my 5 mile runs was a bummer too. I could tell I'd missed it on my next run. My long run was 10 miles again and one of my run group's run leads ran with me. Praise the Lord. I had some side stitched about mile 6 and her talking was a great distraction to help me get past them. She talked my head off and I was SO thankful for the distractions. I felt good during the run, but my knees and body were ready and excited to be done. 😉
What was easy this week?
Maybe the first 5 miles of my 10 mile run (pre-side stitch). I felt good and it went quick. Miles 8-9 did too. This was a harder week for me though!
Any aches or pains?
My knees. And my hips are sore after my 10 mile run.
I sweat salt again this week during my 10 miler. We had cool - Fall like temps early in the week and I much prefer running in the cool air vs the Summer like heat!! This young couple passed us on the trail during our 10 mile run and they were training for a full. They had 18 to run. I was very thankful I wasn't running 18!!!! 😳
I'm officially hooked on running, but I'm excited for the race to get here. Ready to do the thing!!! 🏃🏻♀️💨 I was researching this week how to recover from a half and what to do after. Gotta come up with my game plan for keeping up decent mileage and still resting and getting back to my old workouts I love so much.
